Film watched in class

I think the function of the letters in News From Home, is to express the feeling of how a mother miss her daughter in a metro city with a lot of cars, trains, and go through all the road, stop signs in her everyday life, but missing the her daughter in the video, like having a very dull and colorless life.
Both of the films don't use so much details of telling the audience what they are shooting and how they want to express, it all depends on the audience imgination and giving so much spacing for the audience to explore their feeling towards the film. Just like from Leslie's film, we don't know what the women was talking about at first place, we just know she is so noisy and keep talking from the beginning till the end, but the man didn't really give any responses. When we watch it again with the subtitle, we seems understand what she is talking about, although it don't make sense at all, but with language and interpretation of word, we understand more instead of just having the first impression towards the noisy women, it brought up more creativity.
The two films showed what would be happen in our daily life, like driving a car, waiting for the bus, for the subway. We never have a view of viewing "ourself" driving a car, or we waiting for the subway. We are using a third person's perception to view our daily life. When we are out of ourself, we would usually have a more clearer view of what we are doing and what is going on around us.
The News from Home, which is shooting all over the city with people walking around, cars, bus, subway passing by, with the interval of a voice of a mother reading the letters she wrote to her daughter. The thing is not about the film, I think is more about the letters, which makes me thinkg of me mom in my own country, is she having the same feeling as the mother from the film does?

Both of the film giving out a very clear message of not seeing things on their cover or the skin of something, we need to really think deep about it, when we explore or spend sometime to think about it, we would learn more from what think we know. =)
